Coaching Staff for 2008

2008 Swim Team Try-Outs

Swim Team tryouts for pre-team and varsity will be held Sunday, May 18 at Suburban Swim Center from 5:00-6:00PM.  Everyone interested in joining the team should attend.

The pre-team is primarily for 5-10 year olds interested in swimming, but not yet proficient in backstroke and freestyle. Goals of the pre-team are to have fun, learn to swim, take part in mini-meets, and eventually participate as a varsity swimmer. To join the pre-team, each swimmer must be able to safely and confidently swim 2 laps continuously and tread water for 1 minute. All pre-team members are entitled to join the team at all events including the team banquet at the end of the season.

A varsity swimmer must be able to swim at least 2 laps of freestyle and 2 laps of backstroke continuously.

Additional tryouts will be held from May 27 to May 30th from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. at RTW. The Swim Coaches have the final decision on the placement of each swimmer.

Pre-Season Practice at Suburban

Practice for all team members ages 12 and under will be held on Sunday, May 18th at Suburban Swim Center from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Swimming and Diving Lessons

Swimming and diving lessons will be available again this year. Lessons consist of 4 half hour sessions. The cost is $70 for private lessons and $35 for group lessons. All lessons are taught by the coaches and senior team members.

Diving Team

Divers, in order to participate on the team, are expected to already be familiar with performing a standing or running dive from the 1 meter board.  The diving team is not intended to teach someone how to do a standing dive.  Divers must understand that in order to participate on the team, they must be not only willing to learn the various dives, but have the intention that he/she will participate in a diving competition. Diving practice will begin on May 27th.

Swim Pre-Team

This is for new swim team members only.
